Configure AnyConnect virtual private network (VPN) connection with Cisco RV34x Series routers

The goal of this document is to show you how to configure an AnyConnect VPN connection on the RV34x Series Router.

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection allows users to access, send, and receive data to and from a private network by traversing a public or shared network such as the Internet while still ensuring a secure connection to the underlying infrastructure. underlying network layer to protect the private network and its resources.

A VPN Client (VPN Client) is software installed and running on a computer that wants to connect to a remote network. This client software must be set up with the same configuration as the VPN server, such as IP address and authentication information. This usually happens if a VPN connection is used to connect two networks in separate locations.

On RV34x Series routers, starting with firmware version 1.0.3.15 onwards, AnyConnect licensing is not required. There will only be a fee for client licenses.

Configure AnyConnect VPN connection on RV34x

Configure SSL VPN on RV34x

Step 1
. Go to your router’s web-based utility and select VPN > SSL VPN.

Step 2. Click the On button to enable the Cisco SSL VPN Server.

Required Gateway installation

The following configuration settings (from step 3 to step 9) are required:

Step 3. Select Port Interface from the drop-down list. This will be the port that will be used to pass traffic through the SSL VPN Tunnels. The options are:

  • WAN1
  • WAN2
  • USB1
  • USB2

Note: In this example, WAN1 is selected.

Step 4. Enter the port number used for the SSL VPN port in the “Port” field between 1 and 65535.

Note: In this example, port 8443 is used.

Step 5. Select Certificate File from the drop-down list. This certificate authenticates users attempting to access network resources through SSL VPN tunnels. The drop-down list contains the default certificate and imported certificates.

Note: In this example, Default is selected.

Step 6. Enter the IP address of the client address range into the Client Address Pool. This group will be the range of IP addresses that will be allocated to remote VPN clients.

Note: Make sure that the IP address range does not overlap with any IP addresses on the local network.

In this example, 192.168.0.0 is used.

Step 7. Select Client Netmask from the drop-down list.

Note: In this example, 255.255.255.128 is selected.

Step 8. Enter the client domain name in the Client domain field. This will be the domain name that will be pushed to SSL VPN clients.

Note: In this example, WideDomain.com is used as the client domain name.

Step 9. Enter the text that will appear as the login banner in the Login banner field. This will be the banner that will be displayed every time a customer logs in.
