This article will guide you to configure VLAN Trunks on PortShield Groups Sonicwall firewallaccording to the example model below.
1. Interface configuration:
– From the sonicwall interface move to Manage – Network – Interfaces.
– By default, X0 will be the LAN zone and X1 will be the WAN zone. As an example for PortShield, we will create an additional interface.
– Click config and configure the X2 interface.
– After configuration is complete, we will get the following.
2.Configure PortShield Group:
– We will configure PortShield for interface X3 to link to interface X0.
– Select X3 interface configuration and select Zone LAN, select Mode PortShield Switch Mode and PortShield is X0.
– Similarly, we will configure interface X4 to link with interface X2.
– After the configuration is complete, we will get the image as shown.
3. Configure VLAN Trunk Port:
– Move to Manage – Switching – VLAN Trunking.
– Here we will see the properties of each interface such as VLAN ID, associated ports and Trunked status. At the top of the page is a list of reserved VLAN IDs used by SonicOS.
– Only interfaces configured to be linked in the PortShield Group can be configured in the VLAN Table.
– You can change the VLAN ID configuration by selecting the config button.
– In the VLAN Trunk section, select the button Add To create a trunk port, in the example we will choose port X5.
– We will get the following.
– To add VLAN to trunk select Enable VLANs,and enter the VLAN ID of the PortShield Group, as shown in the example 2 and 4note that you can only add VLAN IDs that are configured to bind PortShield Group ports.
– After configuration is complete, Hosts with the same VLAN ID will be able to access each other.
