In this article, we will guide you how to use the Netinstall tool to reinstall RouterOS on Mikrotik router devices. Netinstall can format the device’s drive and copy new files to the system drive, which should be used in case your device has firmware problems.
– First you need to download Netinstall and the firmware file for your device at the page download by Mikrotik.
– Next set a static IP for the network card on the PC. If the PC has multiple network cards, disable them all, leaving only one network card to connect to the Mikrotik device.
– Unzip and run the Netinstall file, select Net booting and set the IP to the same network layer as the PC -> OK.
– Connect the PC to the Etherboot port on the Mikrotik device, usually port 1, or the port marked “BOOT”.
– Next put the device into Etherboot mode, in this example we will use the Mikrotik RB750Gr3 device running OS 7.6, power off the device, press and hold the button Reset, and re-apply power to the device. When the device name is displayed on the Netinstall tool, release the Reset button.
– Select the device, then select Browse is to browse to the folder containing the firmware of the device you downloaded and select the firmware file.
– Finally choose Install and wait for the device to be reinstalled. After the installation is complete, the device will reboot.
– So the Mikrotik device has been successfully reinstalled.
