Configure Application Control on Cisco Firewall Threat Defense

In today’s content, we introduce you to configuring the Application Control feature on Cisco Firewall Threat Defense devices, through Device Manager.

– To configure Application Control go Policies on the main menu, at Access Controlselect + at new rule.

• Order : the position of the rule, in this example it will be 1
• Title : name the rule
• Action : select Block.
• At Source : select inside_zone
• At Destination : select outside_zone

– Select tab Applicationsselect + to add Apps that need to be blocked. You can search for the App in the Filter section.

– Also can choose Advanced Filter Allows extended search, here you can search for App categories that need to be blocked, as well as exclude apps that do not want to be blocked…

– After completing the selection Add.

​

– At the Logging tab, select At the Beginning and End of Connection to enable logging on this rule. Select OK to save the rule.

– Finally choose Deploy -> Deploy Now to apply configuration.
